Altoplast expands with a fourth production plant

Altoplast’s growth story enters a new chapter. The company has acquired an industrial facility in Torelló (Barcelona), enabling it to increase its production capacity and further strengthen its industrial footprint to support the growing demand for returnable packaging solutions.

This transaction marks the company’s fourth acquisition and consolidates a production network consisting of two plants in Hostalets de Balenyà, one in Santpedor and, soon, a new facility in Torelló, all located in the province of Barcelona. The move reflects Altoplast’s evolution in recent years and its commitment to sustainable long-term growth.

The new site features a 6,600 m² industrial building on a 9,900 m² plot and will become part of Altoplast’s industrial operations following a refurbishment and modernization process. The company plans to invest close to €4 million in the acquisition of the property, renovation works and the future installation of production equipment.

Beyond the physical expansion, the addition of this new facility represents a significant increase in production capacity. The plant will help optimize the distribution of operations across sites, improve process efficiency and provide the infrastructure needed to support future growth opportunities over the coming years.

The facility, which previously belonged to a historic Catalan industrial company, will return to operation by mid-2027. Once fully operational, the new plant is expected to create at least 30 new jobs and contribute to strengthening the region’s industrial ecosystem.

With more than 250 employees, Altoplast specializes in the development and manufacture of returnable packaging solutions for industry, particularly for the automotive sector. The addition of the Torelló plant further enhances the company’s ability to grow alongside its customers and respond to the demands of an increasingly competitive and global market.

For Altoplast, this acquisition is about more than simply adding another facility. It is a strategic investment aimed at building the industrial capacity needed to develop new projects, expand its international reach and continue promoting a more efficient and sustainable logistics model based on returnable packaging.
